Principal’s Message
August 2009
Welcome to the 2009-2010 school year and to our newest RUHS website! We will be adding new information and links in the coming weeks. Our goal is keep you updated with everything you need to know about RUHS. If you have comments or suggestions, please email me at mlittle@rbusd.org .
Under Construction – The 4-Year Transformation Plan
Welcome to Year 1 of our extensive construction made possible by the passage of Measure C. You can not drive by RUHS without seeing construction in progress in numerous places around campus. It’s been an exciting summer with lots of activity. Summer construction has focused on the building of 5 ramps on the upper campus to provide improved access to our buildings. In addition, the tennis courts and new football field should be ready for use by mid-September. Join us for the first home football game on the new field on September 18th! A number of construction projects will be on-going during the school year. These projects include the new Student Services Building, Gymnasium and Aquatics Center, and the modernization of the Auditorium and the Band/Choir Building. We are all going to need to be patient and flexible to endure noise, dirt, and inconvenience while these projects are being completed.
New Administration Team – Good-bye and Hello
We have many changes in our administrative team. Assistant Principals Cliff Higgins and Nermin Kamel have accepted administrative positions and challenges outside of RBUSD. We send them our congratulations and wish them well in their new positions.
Due to budget cutbacks, we are reducing our assistant principal positions from four to three. Please join me in welcoming our new assistant principal, Amy Golden. Her knowledge and experience will complement our administrative team. Ms. Golden has served as a psychology teacher, counselor, assistant principal at Beverly Hills High School, and most recently as the principal of a private school in Northern California. She will oversee the master schedule, ASB and activities, and testing.
Thank You Parents
As we begin a new school year, I would like to personally thank all of our parents for the support they provide to our students and the school. Supportive parents are the cornerstone of a successful high school. It is the partnership between parents and RUHS staff that enables our students to become prepared to pursue future educational, professional and career goals. Working together we can provide a wonderful, high quality learning environment where all students can achieve success. With your help, RUHS is Reaching for Greatness in 2009.
Sincerely,
Mary Little
Principal
